Jammu, Oct 04: In a remarkable demonstration of democratic spirit, the recently concluded assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir have set a new benchmark. With an impressive overall polling percentage of 63.45%, the Jammu province achieved an outstanding turnout of 72.59%. Yet, it is the Reasi district that stands out, boasting a remarkable voter participation rate of 74.68%. This achievement is a testament to the relentless dedication of District Election Officer Vishesh Paul Mahajan, JKAS, and his exceptional team.
The voter turnout in Reasi during these elections is satisfactory, especially when compared to the previous Lok Sabha elections. The district, characterized by its challenging hilly terrain and remote areas, posed significant logistical challenges. However, the energetic and committed District Election Officer, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, and his team worked tirelessly to empower the local populace, encouraging them to embrace their democratic rights and act as ambassadors of democracy.
The Reasi district, encompasses three assembly constituencies: Gulabgarh, Reasi, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji. Among these, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi JI assembly constituency achieved an extraordinary voter turnout of 80.45%, ranking it among the top three constituencies across Jammu & Kashmir out of a total of 90. The other two constituencies also demonstrated impressive participation, with Gulabgarh achieving a turnout of 73.60% and Reasi garnering 72.06%.
