Jammu, Dec 01: The Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu Chandan Kohli, IPS said that in a major success Jammu Police has recovered 875 grams of heroin at a special naka established in the jurisdictions of PS Gandhi Nagar by Jammu Police.
Giving details, SSP Jammu said that a naka was established near Shamshan ghat Pully by Police teams of Police Station Gandhi Nagar led by SDPO South Sachit Sharma along with Station House Officer of PS Gandhi Nagar Inspector Pankaj Sharma in the area under their jurisdiction.
He further added that a suspect lady was rounded up as she behaved suspiciously on seeing police team and tried to run on being questioned, but was apprehended swiftly due to timely human intervention, during search 875 grams of heroin was recovered from her by team of PS Gandhi Nagar.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 306/2022 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act got registered in PS Gandhi Nagar and accused got arrested.
Giving further details he said that the accused lady arrested was identified as Rubina Kouser wife of Sakinder Hayat resident of Jhangar Sariah Tehsil Nowshera District Rajouri.
It is pertinent to mention that 18 months earlier her house was raided and 1 crore, 64 lakh rupees was recovered. Her husband is languishing in Punjab jail for allegedly drug peddling and her brother-in-law (devar) is absconder and police is searching him, whereas, her house is 100 meters away from the border.
The arrest and recovery was made under the overall supervision of SP South Mamta Sharma.
Jammu police is working intensively to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region and thorough questioning of the accused is going on to know forward and backward linkages of the consignment i.e the origin of the drugs and final place of its delivery.
