Inter-School Zonal level Athletic meet/Trials commences at Akhnoor

Akhnoor, Sept 12: Inter-School Zonal Level Athletic Meet/Trials for boys and girls of all age groups commenced today here at GHSS, Narrari Bala.
The Athletic Meet has been organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Zone Akhnoor under supervision by Zonal Physical Education Officer, Akhnoor Sh Tarsem Singh on the direction of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu, Sh Sukhdev Raj Sharma in which boys’ and girls’ athletes of U-14, U-17 and U-19 years age groups drawn from different govt. and private institutions of Zone Akhnoor participated in Running, Jumping and Throwing Events. The matches were officiated by the trained officials of the department.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Gharo Devi Principal GHSS, Narrari Bala as the chief guest. She advised the students to maintain team spirit, cooperation and coordination while participating in competitions. She also said that these skills learned during the sports activities also help in different phases of life, like in academics or future career.
ZPEO Akhnoor informed that Athletics is considered the mother of all sports, he stated that there is no shortcut to success so the winner athletes of competitions must have practised hard for upcoming district level competitions.
Prominent among the others were Sh Ramesh Chandar, Sh Madan Lal, Smt Darshana Devi, Smt Chandar Prabha, Smt Sujata Kumari, Smt Sushma Devi, Smt Rita Sharma, Smt Manjeet Kour, Smt Navneet Kour, Sh Vijay Tangra, Sh Vikram Jamwal, Sh Jagdish Raj Sharma, Sh Suram Singh, Sh Rinku Kumar, Sh Rahul Dev Singh, Sh Shambu Dutt, and Sh Amit Singh (APS Akhnoor).
