Flood Control Deptt has become worthless, flood hits at Belicharana

Engineers of FC to be held responsible!

• People of Belicharana have approached the concerned Executive Engineer but he remained unmoved now he should be penalized for the loss.
•  The department of Flood Control must be made accountable and all loss incurred by the flood should be recovered by the concerned Junior Engineer to Chief Engineer.

Jammu, Jun 23: Why is the Flood Control & Irrigation department becoming worthless with each passing day? What is the performance of Flood Control & Irrigation Department when the flood incidents with each passing rainy season are increasing? Why not the Engineers from Chief Engineer to Junior Engineer held accountable for the loss occurred to public, besides cases under relevant sections should be registered against them? Why do not the engineers of Flood Control & Irrigation think about their non-performing duties and only they are liabilities on the public exchequer? Why not the Flood Control & irrigation department be winded up, besides these people be declared as deadwood and thrown out? These are some serious concerns about the non-performing and worthless Flood Control & Irrigation department, which is one of the biggest liabilities on the government and now this department should be wrapped immediately. The one day rain in Jammu has brought devastation and it has also exposed the Flood Control & Irrigation department, which has proven like a rotten apple, whereas due to non-performance of the department the people of some area of Jammu especially those who are near the river, nallah, Tawi and other water channels have to suffer badly. The people of Belicharana also called as Rakh Raipur have met the same fate and reeling under the fear.
Let we explain, some part of Belicharana is on the banks of Jammu Tawi and it is the identity of Jammu. It is an open secret that in every rainy season, the prominent Jammu Tawi gets flooded and the Flood Control department knows it very well but the worthless department sit idle in the entire year and only consume handsome salary but they never go in field to make a survey that where the flood can attack.
The photograph shows that the damage wreaked by the yesterday flood could have been avoided if the Flood Control department even has worked 10 percent in the year. The life of people and business establishments located at the bank of Jammu tawi at Belicharana are in danger and the concerned department is in deep slumber.
One Lal Chand son of Chatru Ram told that the people of the said areas have approached the Flood Control Department many times but they instead of taking action compelled the applicants to make rounds of their office and at last no result. He said that it was guessed by the common man that the flood will hit this particular area but these so called experts have not moved an inch in the entire year. He appealed the Lt Governor to immediate send relief like covering the said bank with net so that landslide may be stopped immediately and people may be saved.
