Corrupt JKSRTC officers depute drivers/ conductors with non-operation vehicles
Rs 45 crores have been wasted!
- There was no fun to depute drivers and conductors with non-operational vehicles and this trend has clearly indicated that officers who have attached them were having corrupt intention.
- The Lt Governor and Chief Secretary both are watching minutely and they will surely make surgical strike on corrupt officers and then they will have no place to hide, even after retirement.
- Rs 44.55 crore have been given as salary to the drivers and conductors, which remained idle, as they were deliberately attached with non-operational vehicles.

Jammu, Feb 02: When the officers of Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation will wake up from the deep slumber? When the officers of Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation will come out from the corrupt practices? When the officers of Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation will become sincere towards the corporation? When the officers of Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation will work for the betterment of the Corporation? When the officers of Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation will take their job seriously? When the officers of Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation will love their department from where they are feeding their family and enjoying the status? When the officers of Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation will attempt to improve the situation of Corporation? When the officers of Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation will put hectic efforts to improve the financial status of the Corporation? These are some basic, genuine and mandatory questions for the officers of the Corporation and these questions will also instrumental to wake up their consciousness so that they may work honestly whatever they have been assigned to work.
The CAG has made many startling revelation and exposed the performance of the officers of Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation, which has shaken the faith of people. The CAG report is a like scolding to the officers of Corporation and so they must try to have a reform in the Corporation.
The report of CAG further revealed that the records of Depots and Sub-depots revealed that even after allowing the prescribed provision for detention, there was excess detention of vehicles in workshops, which impacted the revenue generation of the Corporation by Rs 135.88 crore, during the period from 2014-15 to 2018-19.
It further detected and described as ‘Failure to acquire the ownership title of properties, non-valuation of properties, non-recovery of compensation of land transferred, non-utilization of properties, non-renewal of leases, indicated inadequate initiative of the Corporation to optimally manage its assets.’
The other loophole was detected, ‘Services of drivers/conductors were not utilized effectively, as the drivers/conductors remained attached with the vehicles detained in workshops despite the required staff available at the workshops, resulting in payment of Rs 44,56 crore to staff remaining idle.’ The report clearly showed that the management has attached the drivers and conductors with those vehicles, which are non-operational and the deputing the drivers and conductors with non-operation vehicles indicates that it was a conspiracy to ditch the Corporation. The officers who attached the drivers and conductions with non-operational vehicles be held responsible and the amount of Rs 44,95 crore may be recovered from their salaries, CP funds and even auctioning their properties.
The most intriguing part of the story is that the Corporation officers failed to hold the prescribed meetings. The CAG report mentioned as ‘Internal control mechanism of the Corporation was inadequate, Board meetings, monthly meetings, administrative inspections and vigilance checks were not conducted regularly.’
These were the strict strictures for officers of the Corporation but now we have to watch either they will improve their performance accordingly or they will deliberately ignore.
The Lt Governor and Chief Secretary are observing everything minutely and I am confident that one day will launch surgical strike on the corrupt & inefficient officers and at that time they will not find a place to hide.
