Future of Youth

Future of Youth across the world is at a very crucial stage and is heading very fast towards a point of complete disappointment and frustration. This is the result of unprecedented increase in the unemployment opportunities. In developing countries like India the situation is comparatively worse than the developed countries and the casual attitude of the respective governments and of the concerned administration is adding fuel to this serious problem. This problem of unemployment has now reached a level of protests on the road by the job seeking youth and these protests many of them have turned to be violent if not given required attention may soon turn into revolt. Exceptional increase in the percentage of unemployment is the result of various factors and policies. Among these the privatization is undoubtedly the prime and the lust of the government to favour some corporate houses just for political gains. To get more political funding from these houses the government and also at many levels local administrations are not only supporting privatization but also by adopting policies to privatize even the profit earning sectors and units. Private sector is always after profit rather than the social responsibilities. Secondly, the private sector prefers more and more automation in the industry or at their business establishments over manual labour to save the money, to be paid as salary to them. Thirdly, in the private sector, it is propagated that the salaries are far higher than the government sector. Which is completely false and misleading? There are no fixed working hours in the private sector, though in writing there are but are hardly applied and implemented. On the other hand the government offices work under a fixed time schedule. Leave is another issue, which is fully enjoyed by the government employees but in the private sector leave for more than two three days is like a dream cum true for the employees working from un-announced working schedule of dawn to dusk even till late night and also at many times from the home. Above all the disparity level in the salaries and facilities are extremely biased and unjustified. In government departments the ratio of salaries paid from the lowest employee to the head of the top officer is approximately 1: 40, but in the private sector this ratio is more than 1: 2000. This vindicates the exploiting culture of the private sector. The only factor which the private sector has better than the government is the glamor. But this sector is always in search of opportunities to get cheap and less manual labour, and the endorsement of their desire by the governments is creating unemployment, which in the end will not be good for the private sector as well as for the government.
