As discussed in earlier editorials, people with a unique but unethical ideology combined the fodder of communalism with a massive campaign of defaming the leaders on false and baseless grounds and after being successful in their attempt they made this as a permanent feature of their election campaign. This gave birth to a new style of opposition which have been named as Political Vendetta. This new feature in the arena of politics may not sustain for a long period but is so damaging that it can take the country seventy years back and if remains in power for a longer period it may take the country into the seventeenth century. Ironically all those allegations labeled by these people against the leaders, intellectuals, social activists, prominent personalities and other sane as  well as aware sections of the society, are proved baseless and false after investigations but till then the damage has already been done. Those three or four years of investigation period are sufficient for them to put them in the corner by defaming. This defamation campaign with the sugar of communalism helps them to gain power by dislodging others. Unfortunately for the country but fortunately for such people, a large chunk of the country’s population is socially and politically illiterate, though most of them being postgraduates and many scholars. Secondly, for the last twenty years the habit of reading, which was already very low in the country, has further gone down. This also helped those elements in spreading rumors and false propaganda, and the people having no interest in reading except for their own academic books and those with very little knowledge of the history, geography, culture, literature and socio-political set up of the country were influenced without much effort. They further helped in spreading their false propaganda with unexpected speed. By taking the support of already created media and social media they succeeded in enlarging their circle within a couple of years. Though now they have been and are being exposed at almost all the levels and platforms but as being in power it is not so easy to send them back to their original position. Let’s see what the coming months have in their lap for the country and its people.
