Twenty-five leaders of transgender community join Bilawal Bhutto’s party

Islamabad, Nov 18: At least 25 leaders of the transgender community have joined Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi on Wednesday, PPP leader Nisar Khuhro said his party views every segment of the society in a dignified manner and that has led to the leaders of transgender community becoming a party of his party.
“The PPP is a social democratic party and provides equal opportunities of progress to everyone,” he said.
The Express Tribune quoted transgender leader Bindiya Rana as saying that her community wanted to see Bilawal Bhutto as the next prime minister of the country.
In September, the Ministry of Human Rights fully adopted and implemented ‘The Transgender Act 2018’ to ensure protection of transgender people.
According to the Pakistani daily, The Transgender Act 2018 explicitly bans any discrimination against transgender citizens by employers, organisations, educational institutions, healthcare providers, transportation service providers and any private business or service providers. UNI
