Army organises Gundoh Valley Cricket League

Doda, Nov 1: As part of welfare activities the Indian Army is regularly undertaking a variety of projects for the welfare of youth. To encourage sports activities as well as to provide an opportunity to the talented youth under Project Sadhbhavana, Indian Army took an initiative to organise a Cricket League at Gundoh Helipad Ground in district Doda (J&K).
A total of 64 teams from Gundoh region participated in the championship and total 62 matches have been played till date. All COVID-19 protocols adhere to at the venue, all players are being screened for RT- PCR test before commencement of the match.
Matches were played as per existing rules by league cum knockout basis. The tournament generated positivity and brotherhood amongst the youth of Gundoh region. Final match was played between team of Bhalessa Eleven and Royal Bhallesa Club. Team Bhalessa Eleven defeated team Royal Bhalessa Club with five wickets and won the match.
A large number of students, youth and village people of Gundoh and nearby villages were present throughout the match. Dr Pritam Pal Singh Thapa, SDM, Gundoh with Momd Hanif, BDC Chairperson, Sehjada Kabir Matto, SDPO, Gundoh, Arun Kumar, SHO, Gundoh and other village dignitaries addressed the gathering and emphasized on the importance of national integrity and amity among the people for the development of the region.
The tournament was appreciated by all and thanked Indian Army for conducting the event.
