Karnah, Oct 31: Karnah Kabaddi League, a month long sporting event which commenced on 6th October reached its culmination today as the nation celebrates ‘National Unity Day’, to commernorate the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the ‘Iron Man” and great unifier of India. Thirty two tearms participated in the sporting event exhibiting grit and determination. The event was organised by Karnah Civic Society in association with Shakti Vijay Brigade of Indian Army at multiple locations within Karnah such as Nachiyan, Baghbela and Suleiman.
Bhatpura Gunners and Tangdhar ‘A’ teams made it to the finals after nerve wracking finish in their respective semifinals. The finals were played with great zeal, enthusiasm and competitiveness and spectators gathered in large numbers to promote their village teams and the sport. Tanghdar ‘A’ won the finals in the keenly contested match. Cash prizes were awarded to the winner and runners up teams in addition to trophies, medals and sports kits.
The tournament was a great success as it was aimed at promotion of sports amongst you this, develop competitive spirit and ensure positive engagement. Organising such events also provide platform to local talent to excel at higher level.
On this occasion a function was also organised in Army Goodwill School, Hajinar wherein the contibution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel towards the nation building were highlighted. During the function Nine Aarogya Sevikas and Mr Muhammad Iqbal, Director Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Ministry of Skill Development, Kupwara involved in fabrication of National Tri-colour flags were also felicitated for their contribution towards civic society.
