The MC Akhnoor has a total number of 13 wards and all 13 councillors belong to BJP.
Today early morning Karan Singh Councillor Ward number 3 and Baldev Raj Councillor Ward number 4 reached Office Complex of Municipal Committee Akhnoor to present ‘No Confidence Motion’ which was signed by 8 Councillors among of total 13. They submitted the copy addressed to the President in his office and presented the copy to Executive Officer Akhnoor.
While speaking to the media persons, Karan Singh Councillor ward no 3 levelled serious allegations against the President Surinder Sharma and Amita Gupta for ignoring the rest of councillors in decision making. He further alleged that drainage and lanes of Akhnoor town are yet undeveloped which is a serious concern. He alleged that the President and Vice President duo has failed to deliver as per people’s aspirations because of which they both have lost the confidence of the majority of councillors of Municipal Committee Akhnoor.
While reacting on the episode, Baldev Raj Councillor Ward Number 4 said that it was unanimously decided by the councillors of house that president abd vide president would resign after completing 12 months i.e. one year so that maximum councillors may get the chance to serve the Akhnoor Town but after the lapse of 18 months the sitting president Surrender Sharma is not resigning from teh post of president. He mentioned that his predecessor Depesh Singh has quitted the office over the completion of one year and Surrender Sharma was given a chance to be elected as president and the same pattern must be continued but the sitting president has betrayed the decision and his commitment, which is totally immoral. He alleged that President Surinder Sharma have even served for 18 months still he is not resigning from the post which is against the decision made by all councillors as well as BJP. He said that under the rule of Surinder Sharma President and Amita Gupta Vice President Old Akhnoor town has been neglected because most councillors were of outer area. He said we are facing wrath of public for not performing as per promises and lane drain of town is very poor. He said President Surinder Sharma should immediately step down and new person should be given chance who should take all councillors in favor for taking decisions. He further claimed that they have majority and they will be successful in passing no confidence against sitting President and Vice President.

But the most intriguing part of the story is that the funds tuning Rs 6.5 crore under the CAPEX scheme has been sanctioned to the MC Akhnoor and now everyone is eyeing on the huge money. It is an open secret that the commission system in illegal way is prevailing still despite the prime Minister’s crusade against the corruption, and every councillor is eyeing on the fund of Rs 6.50 crore, which has been sanctioned and the commission goes in lakhs.
