Almost in every country and social system, there are elements who does not believe in discipline, who does not have any respect for others, who think only for their comfort, who don’t love peace and tranquility, never follow any principle, always interfere in the lives and matters of others, create disturbance and problematic situation for others and indulge in looting, thefts, snatching, rape and murder also. Such elements were initially called mischievous but later on because of their aggressive attitude and rough behavior they were given the name of anti-social elements and are found everywhere. In our social system the responsibility of controlling these elements, maintaining law and order and to protect the life and property of citizens is put on the shoulders of an organized force specially constituted for this purpose called Police. This organization, though recruited by the government, is paid a monthly salary and also few other allowances and benefits but have to be on the job and in uniform for 24 hours with no rest period. With time those mischievous and anti-social elements gained strength with the support of rich and other influential people including politicians but on the other hand there had been no improvement and reforms in the police at the same speed as the anti-social elements were gaining power and support. The officers and Jawans of the police department when deputed or appointed in far flung areas have to arrange accommodation and kitchen on their own at most of the places except few. There are places where most of the Police Posts don’t have any vehicle for carrying out their job which is mostly in the field and not in the office. There is no provision of leave for the staff engaged with Police Posts and Police Stations and the staff has to be on duty 24 hours without any break. A police man who has been in the field on duty either in the security of VIP’s, or for the investigation of any criminal case or to maintain law and order or controlling the mobs, protesters and demonstrators or chasing the criminals, carrying out search operations to nab the criminals and   or appearing in the court in connection with any criminal case or carrying criminals from one place to another, can perform the duty with same energy and force. And above all they have to tackle the menace of militancy and at many times brave officers and Jawans have lost their lives while performing their duties without any recognition from the society and relief or incentive from the government. The government must come up with a plan to give some relief to the force which stands in scorching heat, extreme cold and rains for their protection.
