The Power

Power has so many meanings as well as definitions according to the dictionary like authority, control, strength, force, might, energy, state and so on. Everyone is by instinct after assuming power by one way or the other. Power has become so powerful that whoever possesses power is regarded as the owner of almost everything including materialistic and living. For him nothing is (not completely) inaccessible and out of reach. He has just to order and all his desires shall be fulfilled at any cost. He has numberless slaves in different shapes and styles, humans and machines to follow his orders and carry out his command. Interestingly one can see only the possessor of power but can never see the power itself. The power itself is the only power which controls everything but is not visible. It first gains power over a person, machine or device then controls him and finally the power fulfills its own desires or ambitions through that entity which has come under its control. This entity may be a human or on-living thing and when the power gains full control over its entity then it becomes out of control. Ironically, the human or entity is under this impression that every activity of power is being controlled by him which is not true but is an illusion. In the present era a new entity has emerged which is under this illusion of having power under its control. This entity is called ‘Media’. The media and the people associated are under the impression that they are powerful and they control the power. As such the media is now behaving and working like an uncontrolled power which in fact is the influence of power. This overdose of power is not doing any good to society, to the nation and to human beings. The time has come that the media should be made to respect human values and follow the ethics of journalism. If not then very soon they, particularly the field staff may have to face the wrath of the common man who is being not only sidelined by this type of media but is also being crushed on the directions and support of inhumane persons and ideology.
