Ministers, Ministers and Ministers

Yes this is the position which Jammu is being forced to face nowadays. Battery of Ministers have been asked by the High Command to pay visits to Jammu and Kashmir particularly to Jammu region. During the last couple of days several Union Ministers have visited Jammu and Kashmir (mostly Jammu region). What these visits have given to the people of Jammu and Kashmir is not known to any one and what they have got from these visits is known to almost every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir. Huge amounts of public money collected through numerous and heavy taxes and GST are being expended on these visits. This is being alleged by several opposition members and people of UT that while returning to the union capital or their hometowns after concluding their tours there is a heavy load of gifts in their baggage. Till now about two dozen Union Ministers have completed their assigned visits to UT but nothing has been shown or announced by any of the visiting ministers. Interestingly the language of all the visiting ministers is with minor plus-minus. Every minister refers to the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-a and claims that UT JK has seen massive development after that. The other lines which are repeated by every visiting minister are “Union government under the leadership of PM Modi is keen on the development of Jammu and Kashmir”, “Several projects and schemes have been launched in Jammu and Kashmir by the union government.” But none of them elaborates the development being claimed in their statements and speeches. None of them ever points out on the ground the place or project, which after 5th August 2019 has come up here or any investment which has been made by any outsider investor after the said date. No minister could so far tell on his fingers the projects being claimed on papers and their speeches. What is the motive of the union government to arrange the visits of union ministers at such a big level in quantity only not in quality level? To be precise, these planned visits of ministers is nothing but to divert the attention of the people from the deteriorating situation in UT Jammu and Kashmir. An attempt to save the damaging image of local BJP units from further worsening and to make a ground for the victory of the party in the expected elections in JK which now has become almost a Herculean task both for local and central leadership of BJP.
