There are several indications from government and allied agencies that elections in UT Jammu and Kashmir may be held soon. Though it is the month of October now and within a couple of weeks high reaches of Jammu and Kashmir will be covered with thick snow. After a few weeks the snowfall is expected any time initially on the mountains and then in the valleys. In the winter season particularly after the month of November pooling is almost very difficult in the hilly areas if not impossible. Most of the areas are covered under the thick layer of snow and many areas are remaining cut by road from the rest of the country for a quite long period. So in such circumstances holding of elections is neither viable nor feasible and nor will be upto the expectations of people. Because a large chunk of the population will not be in a position to freely exercise their right of franchise. But because of these speculations the political atmosphere is gaining heat day by day. New scenarios are emerging by the statements of the political leaders and by the rumors spread by the media. How far these rumors are true or false is not yet known to anybody even to the media persons but everyday there is a new rumor about certain political leaders about leaving the party and joining the other party. Many of these leaders are very senior and seasoned also. Moreover they are getting due respect from the party, party workers and the people also. However in the present situation one cannot claim the loyalty of other persons particularly of a political leader. So what will happen in the next couple of weeks in the political arena of Jammu and Kashmir has really have become a secret. Lets hope whatever happens will be better for the people and Jammu and Kashmir.
