Visits of Union Ministers to JK UT

For the last about three weeks almost every day there is a visit of a union minister to Jammu and Kashmir. These visits have been arranged under an outreach program of the union government under which almost daily a union minister pays a visit to any of the districts of JK UT and during this one or two day visit a number of activities are being specially arranged for him to take part by the UT administration. These activities include the inauguration or laying the foundation stone of some development schemes or projects which are mostly of local level and have no significance at the UT or even provincial and many of them even don’t have any relevance at district level. The inauguration of or to lay foundation stones of such village or town level schemes or projects shows the round situation of development being taking place in UT of Jammu and Kashmir during the last couple of years. More interesting are the statements of the visiting union ministers which look like a fill in the blanks. All the ministers in their address (if any) to the people (mostly missing) or while talking to media, mostly, the words used by every minister are the same except the name of the place and scheme. The common statement being given by every visiting union minister is “Union government is keen to take UT Jammu and Kashmir to the path of glorious development”, “Central government will leave no stone unturned for the development of UT Jammu and Kashmir”, “After the abrogation of article 370 UT of Jammu and Kashmir is heading towards the development apace”, “Funds is no problem for the development of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir” and so on. But none of these visiting VIP’s is in a position or is sincere enough to tell the masses what development on the ground has taken place in the UT during last couple of years. More interesting is the twitter and face book account of a Union Minister who at many times posts the construction of small village roads and even many times the pictures of black topping of the roads. It is really a surprise for the people of Jammu and Kashmir that there is nothing new and so significant to be posted by a union minister. These all are routine activities and are taking place across the UT JK now and in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir since long. These low level postings instead of impressing the masses are to a large extent an embarrassment for the minister. They should now confess honestly that they have in practice failed to do any good for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and not make such deceptive statements and also avoid posting such pictures on social media as the reality is altogether different than what they say. People now with every coming day are realizing what has happened on the ground.
