Like other waves no of Covid, but waves of different thoughts and ideologies and now the present society is witnessing a unique type of wave which can be called as a wave of Journalists. The concept of journalism has now gone under a massive transformation. Now one does not need any study, academic training or practical training to be a journalist. Just join any channel (including web, YouTube and FB accounts), get a mike and cameraman (in most of the cases the journalists are also serving as cameraman) and start your career as a journalist. This type of wave of journalists has not helped this fourth pillar of democracy in any improvement, rather has degraded this profession. Journalism is losing day by day not only its credibility but its reliability and charm. For this decline several factors are responsible. Most of the media houses are nowadays controlled either by capitalists or political leaders or by unprofessional journalists. As such the reporters, editors and correspondents engaged by such media houses must be the yes man and not a responsible, experienced and professional one. Another important factor is social media where hundreds of news portals have emerged during the last decade. Many of them are self-styled journalists and others have nothing to do with journalism. In this scenario journalism is losing its image, attraction and also its value. News portals on social media are mostly engaged in the activities or coverage of their personal interest and not for the common man. Secondly their reporting or coverage is mostly one sided and they never care for making their news stories balanced by covering the versions of both the parties. The reporting of many among them is not only impartial, but is completely biased. The reporting of the majority of the news portals being one sided, fails to attract the viewers except those who have been covered in the story. There are also few channels that are busy in creating sensation and also hatred in the society. People must discard such journalism before this discards the very existence of humanity, truth, harmony and above all the democratic values.
