Principal GMC among 39 tested positive; 1004 children vaccinated

Rajouri, Jan 16: Like the second wave of COVID-19, community spread has once again gripped the Rajouri district, which is evident that 228 positive cases have been detected in the district during the last six days while during this period 46 patients also recovered.
Among the 39 who tested positive on Sunday in the district were five health workers, including the Principal of Government Medical College & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) Rajouri and two doctors.
With 39 more cases detected in the district, the tally has reached 244.
As the district is witnessing an instant surge in Covid-19 cases and to deal with the rising load, District Magistrate has declared seven areas across the district, including ward Nos. 10 & 6 in Rajouri town and 3 girls’ hostels of BGSBU, as Micro Containment Zones (MCZs).
After 4 students were tested positive on Saturday & keeping in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases, the Administration of BGSBU has deferred all the offline examinations of the university till further order.
Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal has made an appeal to the general public to cooperate with the District Administration by following the guidelines
Meanwhile, the joint COVID Control teams today recovered Rs 18,500 fine from 193 violators for not adhering to COVID appropriate behaviour (CAB) taking the total amount fined since April 1, 2021 to Rs 80,23,414.
During this week (from January 9-16), 26129 samples were collected for testing out of which 232 cases were detected positive while one patient died.
Out of 244 active cases in the district,29 are admitted in the hospitals, including in the Army & BSF, and 215 patients are in home isolations.
As many as 1004 vaccine doses were administered to the children between the age group of 15-18 across the Rajouri district today, thus taking the total vaccination for this age group to 15022.
