Police Cracks “Natural Death” Murder Case in Record Time; Arrests Husband for Wife’s Death

Jammu, Sept 28: In an extraordinary demonstration of professionalism, teamwork, and scientific investigation, the Jammu Police, South Zone successfully uncovered a murder case that had initially been disguised as a natural death. The case, which went unreported for nearly a month, was solved swiftly following a written complaint, highlighting the police’s unwavering commitment to justice.

The incident came to light just a day after the visit of the Chairperson of the National Women Commission, underscoring the critical importance of vigilant law enforcement in protecting women’s rights. Acting decisively, the team from Police Station Bahu Fort, led by Inspector Sushil Choudhary, arrested the husband of the deceased woman, bringing to an end a disturbing case of cruelty and concealment.

On September 26, 2025, Ms. Sabina Sunuwar, daughter of Akbar Khan and resident of Dhol Wali Gali, Nai Basti, Jammu, lodged a formal complaint concerning the suspicious death of her sister, Simriti Sunwar, wife of Tej Pal Singh, residing in Mangnar, District Poonch, and Trikuta Nagar Extension, Jammu. According to the complaint, on August 26, 2025, the accused had taken his wife for alleged medical treatment but returned the next day with her dead body. He hurriedly cremated her at the Shastri Nagar Cremation Ground without conducting a postmortem or notifying the authorities, allegedly in an attempt to conceal evidence.

The complainant further alleged that the deceased was subjected to cruelty and bore suspicious ligature marks on her neck. Additionally, financial disputes between the couple over the purchase of a new house were cited as a possible motive. Photographic evidence supporting these claims was submitted to the police.

Following this complaint, FIR No. 286/2025 U/S 103 BNS was promptly registered at Police Station Bahu Fort. A dedicated investigation team, including experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and crime scene photographers, conducted a thorough examination of the crime scene and collected critical evidence. Multiple witness statements were recorded under careful supervision.

Thanks to the meticulous and scientific approach, the accused, Tej Pal Singh, was arrested on September 27, 2025. The investigation continues under close monitoring by SSP Jammu, with overall supervision by SP South and SDPO East, ensuring a comprehensive and timely inquiry.

The Jammu Police reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to uncovering the truth, protecting citizen dignity, and ensuring swift justice for heinous crimes. This successful operation stands as a testament to their dedication to safeguarding women and vulnerable sections of society.

The public, netizens, women’s groups, and NGOs have widely praised the professionalism and efficiency demonstrated by the Jammu Police, particularly applauding the leadership of SSP Jammu and Inspector Sushil Choudhary in swiftly bringing the perpetrator to justice.
