Jammu, Aug 02: In a no-nonsense crackdown on land encroachment and illegal commercial activity, the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) launched a high-impact anti-encroachment drive at Khasra No. 119, Village Majeen, Tehsil Jammu Khas, demolishing unauthorized structures and sealing illegally constructed shops. The operation, executed with precision and authority, was carried out under the dynamic leadership of Vice Chairman Mr. Rupesh Kumar, IAS, whose relentless drive for law enforcement and urban discipline continues to set new standards in civic governance.
The action was taken in accordance with the provisions of the J&K Control of Building Operations Act, 1988 (COBO Act) – a legal framework that empowers the JDA to curb unauthorized development and protect government land from illegal possession and construction.
As part of this well-orchestrated operation, the JDA Enforcement Wing, in tight coordination with the District Administration, Jammu, razed several unauthorized plinths and encroachments that had mushroomed illegally on JDA-owned land. In a significant move, two massive commercial structures housing a total of seven unauthorized shops were sealed for gross violations of land-use norms, lack of sanctioned plans, and blatant disregard for the city’s master plan.
“This is just the beginning. We are committed to reclaiming every inch of public land encroached upon unlawfully. No violator, big or small, will be spared. The rule of law must prevail, and we will not rest until Jammu’s urban landscape is restored to its rightful order,” declared Mr. Rupesh Kumar, IAS, with characteristic firmness.
The Vice Chairman’s steely resolve and people-centric vision have earned widespread appreciation. Known for his meticulous planning and on-ground vigilance, Mr. Kumar continues to steer the JDA with integrity, ensuring that illegal profiteering through land encroachment is brought to an unceremonious halt.
The JDA has once again urged the public to strictly avoid unauthorized constructions and to obtain proper sanctions before undertaking any developmental activity on land falling within its jurisdiction.
This bold drive not only restores the sanctity of the city’s master plan but also sends a clear and uncompromising message to habitual offenders: Encroachments will be demolished. Illegal structures will be sealed. The law will be enforced – without fear or favour.
