Jammu, May 03:
The prevailing situation inside the Jammu Central Jail is very deteriorating and unruly, besides the lawlessness prevails inside it, which has hit peace in Jammu and inmates are operating gangs inside the Jail and wreaking violations. No doubt that there is much shortage of manpower in Jail but on the part of administration there is a great mess and needed to appoint a new head.
Since the first day, Jammu Jottings is continuously reporting the issue with all responsibility and seriousness that Jammu Central Jail needs overall revamping and some of the work has been done like arresting the driver of Senior Superintendent of Jammu Central Jail but much needed to be done. The staff of Jammu Central Jail must be investigated in detail and their bank accounts also scrutinized. The reshuffling in the staff of Jammu Central Jail is very inoperative from top to bottom but it is beyond to understand that why higher authorities are delaying it.
The Jammu Jottings has been reporting that there are ample chances of involvement of senior officials and only arresting of driver would not take the investigation to the logic end and the culprits in the guise of Jail officials would get easy escape, resulting in threat to peace of Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention that in a surprise raid conducted at Kot Bhalwal Central Jail, the Counter Intelligence Wing of Jammu & Kashmir Police recovered mobile phones and SIM cards.
Police team raided the jail and recovered mobile phones and SIM cards, chargers and headphones. The raid was carried out after Jammu police arrested a jail staffer in Gandhi Nagar firing case wherein Royal Singh and his associates were booked. According to police, Royal Singh, a convict in Amandeep Murder case, was also running a nexus in association with jail staffer.
Vital leads were developed by police during questioning of arrested jail staffer Kuldeep Kumar.
A senior police official said they cannot rule out the involvement of other jail staff members in providing mobile phone facilities to jail inmates including the militants. In January 2019, in a similar raid, police had recovered a large number of mobile phone and SIM cards. Police has registered an FIR to investigate this case further.
The high-security prison, where the UN-designated militant, Masood Azhar, was once detained, has over 500 prisoners, including Pakistani and local militants also.
