Beat Booth System Strengthens City Patrols, Facilitates Quick Response in Sarwal/Bakshi Nagar

Jammu, June 7: Jammu Police, under the leadership of SP City North Shivam Siddharth IPS, have launched a proactive initiative to enhance public safety and security by strengthening city patrols and increasing surveillance. This effort, spearheaded by SDPO City West and Inspector Sajid Mughal, SHO of Bakshi Nagar, and I/C PP Sarwal, has already yielded impressive results, with the recent arrest of a Scooty lifter and a bike thief.
To enhance visibility and accessibility, the police subdivision City West has implemented a unique beat booth system in the Sarwal/Bakshi Nagar area. These designated booths, strategically located in each beat area, facilitate more frequent patrols and visits by police officers and officials, ensuring a quicker response time in case of emergencies.
The beat booths are equipped with detailed information about local areas, contact numbers for the police station and beat officers, and emergency numbers for public services like the police (100), fire department (101), and ambulance (108).
The initiative aims to strengthen police presence at the ground level, improve community engagement, and facilitate the swift redressal of public grievances. The public has welcomed this proactive step by Jammu Police, expressing hope that it will further enhance police-community relations.
On June 6, 2023, a complaint was filed at PP Sarwal (PS Bakshi Nagar) by Rahul Gupta, resident of Qtr. 125 Rehari Colony, Jammu, regarding the theft of his Scooty bearing registration number JK02AM5648. A case was registered under FIR No. 78/2024 under sections 379/34 of the IPC.
A dedicated police team, under the supervision of SP City North, led by SDPO City West, assisted by SHO Bakshi Nagar and I/C PP Sarwal, conducted a thorough investigation. Through a combination of information gathered from their sources and analysis of CCTV footage, the team apprehended two suspects: Vinod Kumar, son of Sukhdev Kumar, resident of Behraich UP, currently residing at Nitco Lane, Tilab Tillo, and Jeetu Gouda @ Rahul, son of Santosh, a resident of Orissa, currently residing at Om Nagar, Tilab Tillo, Jammu.
Following sustained interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime. During the investigation, the stolen Scooty bearing registration number JK02AM5648 was recovered, along with two additional scooters (JK02BX 2714 and JK02BB3521) and one motorcycle (JK02BX9650). The recovered vehicles were seized under section 102 of Cr.PC.
It is worth noting that Jeetu Gouda @ Rahul has a previous criminal record and is a habitual thief, with a case already registered against him at PS Nowabad.
On June 5, 2024, Deepanshu Kapoor, resident of Plot No. 271 Rehari Colony Jammu, reported the theft of his Yamaha R15 bike bearing registration number JK02DB-9323, leading to the registration of FIR No. 77/2024 under section 379 IPC at PS Bakshi Nagar.
Another special police team, again under the supervision of SP City North, led by SDPO City West, and assisted by SHO PS Bakshi Nagar and I/C PP Sarwal, conducted a diligent investigation, relying on CCTV footage and other sources. This investigation resulted in the apprehension of Sameer Hussain, son of Mubasbir Hussain, resident of Liyon Bunjwah, Kishtwar.
During interrogation, Sameer Hussain admitted to stealing the bike. The stolen Yamaha R15 was subsequently recovered from his possession. Sameer Hussain has a history of criminal activity, with multiple theft cases registered against him at various police stations: FIR No. 129/2022 U/S 379 IPC, PS City, FIR No. 19/2020 U/S 457/382 IPC, PS Nowabad, FIR No. 43/23 U/S 379 IPC, PS Bahu-Fort, FIR No. 64/2023 U/S 224 IPC, PS Bahu-Fort.
