Samba, May 19: SSP Vinay Kumar’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace in Samba district is yielding impressive results. His strict policing strategies and innovative approaches, meticulously executed by dedicated officers like Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, have instilled fear in the hearts of criminals and drug peddlers, forcing many to flee the district.
In a recent victory for Samba Police, a team led by Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, SHO of Police Station Vijaypur, apprehended two drug peddlers during a vehicle check near Radha Sowami Ashram Tandi Khui Vijaypur on the National Highway. The operation, conducted under the direct supervision of SSP Vinay Kumar, resulted in the seizure of 8.30 grams of a substance suspected to be heroin from a car bearing registration number JK11E-9149 traveling from Jammu.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ajay Sharma, a resident of Makot, Rajouri, and Shaksham Sasan, a resident of Gohlad Mendhar in Poonch district. Shockingly, Ajay Sharma is a police constable in the armed police posted at Mahore, highlighting the insidious reach of the drug trade and the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating it. Tracking individuals who operate within the very system tasked with upholding the law is a daunting task, but SSP Vinay Kumar’s resolute stance against drug peddlers, regardless of their affiliations, sends a clear message: no one is above the law in Samba.
A case under FIR No. 68/2024 has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur under sections 8/21/22/25/29 of the NDPS Act, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
