SDH Bani needs special attention of Lt Governor as people are suffering badly

It is at the verge of collapse!

  • The Director Health Services Jammu Dr Rajeev Sharma not bothered to take call to speak with us despite I called him several times on different days.
  • Such attitude of Director Health Services Jammu Dr Rajeev Sharma will not helpful in improving the condition of SDH Bani.
  •  The absence of Gynaecologist is creating big problem for the people and it should addressed at earliest.

Jammu, Jul 14: The forty years old Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bani is craving for doctors as the sanctioned posts of Medical Officers are 12 but there are only five doctors and there is no single specialist as five specialists are approved already.
The story of the dilapidated Sub District Hospital Bani in Kathua district is telling a story that the government is only focusing on the hospital situated in cities or at district headquarters, whereas the hospitals are situated interior of state or those hospitals are in far-flung areas are not in the list of the government, whereas, there is huge shortage of building to operate properly.
The government must focus on those hospitals which are situated very interior of Jammu & Kashmir to provide health facilities to those who cannot reach cities easily. These hospitals are very mandatory for the villagers as these hospitals are their lifeline.
The government has sanctioned 12 posts of Medical Officers for general treatment for the people on the first diagnosing but there are only five including Block Medical Officer Bani and seven lying vacant. There are five sanctioned posts of specialist but there is no a single specialist posted at present. The five specialists are Gynaecologist; Anaesthesia; Physician; Paediatrics; and Orthopaedic. One can imagine that what kind of hospital is in Bani. The absence of Gynaecologist is the biggest injustice with the people of Bani and it should be considered at earliest.
The total population of Bani is near about 60887 and its area is 46828 Sq km. The area of Bani is very vast and it is 154 kilometres from the Kathua district hospital, which is a big distance. This distance is from Bani city to Kathua city and not from the interior of Bani, which can be more and also difficult to travel.
The most intriguing part of the story is that the doctor who performs Ultrasound visits the Sub District Hospital Bani once in a week that too on temporary arrangement case. What can be worse than this?
There is not a single residential quarter for the doctors and para-medical staff, which is one of the reasons for repelling the doctors to join the said hospital.
The average OPD for per day in SDH Bani is more than 100 patients but the prevailing structure is very less and creates risk for the visiting patients.
There are only three ambulances one 108 and two 102 the people demand two 108 ambulances for the people.
I tried to contact with Dr Rajeev Sharma Director Health Services Jammu many times and on different days to have his version but he not bothered to attend the call reason better known to him. I also tried to call Dr Rakesh Magotra Chief Medical Officer Kathua, he too not bothered to attend the call, which is matter of concern and government must take cognizance of this.
I called to Block Medical Officer Bani and he told me that many times he had conveyed the higher authorities about the condition of SDH but till date they are waiting for something good.
