Anantnag, July 31: A grand Felicitation Ceremony was today organised at Government Model Higher Secondary School Dooru Shahabad to honour the outstanding achievements of meritorious students from Classes 9th to 12th, NEET qualifiers, young innovators, budding writers, and sportspersons. The event showcased the academic, creative and athletic excellence of the student community.
The Chief Guest on the occasion, Senior Congress Leader and MLA Dooru Shahabad, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, lauded the achievements of the students and congratulated the school staff for their dedication and efforts. In his address, Mr. Mir said that Dooru Shahabad has consistently excelled in various spheres of life and continues to produce individuals of high calibre.
He expressed his pride in felicitating the students and emphasised the importance of aligning the educational system with modern tools and innovative practices. “We must empower our youth through quality education and embrace new-age learning solutions,” he remarked.
Highlighting the rich legacy of Government Model HSS Dooru, Mr. Mir said, “This institution, being one of the oldest in the region, has produced eminent personalities-bureaucrats, academicians, sportspersons, and intellectuals-and continues to uphold its tradition of excellence despite challenges.”
The Chief Guest also appreciated the thought-provoking skit on drug menace performed by the students, calling it a powerful message against a growing societal evil. “Drug menace is nothing less than a form of terrorism that is ruining our younger generation. We must fight it collectively-students, teachers, parents, and civil society must stand united,” he asserted. He also urged authorities to enforce stricter measures to eliminate the scourge of drugs.
Applauding the progress in inclusive education, Mr. Mir highlighted how students from underprivileged backgrounds are now qualifying prestigious exams like IAS and KAS, thanks to increased access to education and community awareness.
In a significant announcement, the MLA assured the school administration of his support in addressing infrastructural demands such as smart boards and transportation facilities. He also announced an educational-cum-interactive tour for the student team that performed the skit on the drug menace, as a token of appreciation.
Members from Civil Society and School also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, the programme commenced with the rendition of the School Tarana, followed by cultural performances and felicitation rounds. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents, teachers and local dignitaries.
The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by the Principal of the institution, who expressed gratitude to all guests and contributors for making the event a grand success.
