ACB Books Patwari in Disproportionate Assets Case

Kupwara/Baramulla, June 17: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Jammu & Kashmir, has registered a case against Mohd Ayoub Khan, Patwari in the Revenue Department, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A case under FIR No. 03/2025, U/S 5(1)(e) r/w 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, has been registered at Police Station ACB Baramulla following discreet verification on the basis of a complaint. The complaint alleged that Khan, son of Gulsheer Khan and a resident of Doniwari Lolab, was living a lavish lifestyle and had amassed vast properties, including multiple houses and vehicles, far exceeding his known sources of income.
Allegations & Findings
The verification revealed that the accused:
Purchased land and constructed a double-storey house at Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina, Srinagar.
Built another double-storey house at his native village Doniwari Lolab, Kupwara.
Acquired a Hyundai Venue car and a two-wheeler.
Incurred heavy expenditures on repayment of multiple bank loans.
Spent considerable sums on the education of his children, including MBBS admission abroad and nursing studies in Amritsar.
In an apparent attempt to mask the illegal income, the suspect reportedly availed bank loans amounting to nearly ₹75 lakh soon after learning of the complaint.
Searches & Seizures
Following the registration of the FIR, search warrants were obtained from the Hon’ble Anti-Corruption Court Baramulla. Multiple locations linked to the accused were searched, leading to the recovery and seizure of incriminating documents and material. This included receipts of gold purchases, iPhones (models 15 & 15 Pro), and other items relevant to the ongoing investigation. All actions were conducted in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses as per legal procedure.
Ongoing Probe
The ACB stated that the conduct of the accused amounts to criminal misconduct under the provisions of the J&K PC Act. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
