Army organised Dangal/Kabaddi championship & lecture on Women’s Empowerment

Rajouri, Oct 6: Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles Battalion conducted a five-day Inter Village Dangal & Kabadi Championship at Budhal, in the Kotranka sub-division in Rajouri district from October 1 with an aim to promote local traditional sports amongst the youth from remote areas.
In another event, the Indian Army organised a lecture on ‘Women Empowerment’ at Keri (Rajouri) to aware the people about the various schemes of state & central governments for women’s employment.
At Budhal 11 teams participated in the Kabadi completion from Budhal, Draj, Banna, Kotranka, Tuli, Gota & Gabbar areas situated in Rajouri & Reasi districts.
The final match in Kabaddi was played between the teams of government higher secondary school (HSS) Gota & government HSS Budhal & the team of Budhal School won the championship.
Dangal Competition saw 54 individuals participate in three weight categories i.e. 50 -60 KG, 60-70 KG, and 70 -80 KG from Budhal town & in its vicinity.
The Dangal and Kabaddi Competition has always been a major attraction, where, local villagers and schools cheer for their respective teams. At the end of the competition, the Winners and the Runners Up were felicitated with prizes.
At Keri, the Principal of Tender Feet School (TFS) delivered the lecture on Women Empowerment’ & she conveys the idea that the empowerment of women is imperative for a better tomorrow and when we empower women, we empower the future of society.
The Govt of India has taken a lot of initiatives to attain that goal which includes Mahila E-Haat, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, One Stop Centre Scheme, Working Women’s Hostels, the Support to Training and Employment Program for women (STEP), and Nari Shakti Puruskars.
All these schemes of the GoI were explained to the attendance by Principal of TFS.
The lecture was attended by a large number of women from Keri village and they appreciated the efforts made by the Indian Army to educate and encourage them on these relevant schemes.
