Republic Day and our Constitution

Today the Nation is celebrating its 73^rd Republic Day with patriotic zeal and expressing her respect for the constitution. The constitution of India came into effect from this day of 26^th January 1950, and since then every year this day is celebrated as Republic Day of India. Various functions are held on this occasion not only across the Nation but also abroad in every consulate and by Indians living in various countries. Main function is held at Rajpath New Delhi where an impressive ceremonial parade is organized in which India’s military might and achievements in other fields as well as development are displayed. But this day is dedicated to our constitution and in the joy of implementing the same; this Republic Day is celebrated every year. Our constitution is such a priceless book that holds the constitutional right to live their life freely, healthily and happily for all the people of India. In fact, while celebrating this day, we should also discuss whether we have intentionally or unintentionally caused any harm to the constitution and constitutional institutions in the last year or in the past several years. This should also be discussed that the political parties are not violating the constitutional values in their selfishness and while trying to attract the voters towards them. There is no doubt that the sovereignty and integrity of India is safe only as long as our constitution is safe. We also have to ensure that no such amendment is made in the constitution which is not in accordance with its spirit. The majority in the Parliament does not mean that the soul of the country, that is, the constitution, should be amended unjustifiably, which only means to fulfill  the political interests of a political party and is never the will of the people. The country and the soul of the country can never have political views above the constitution, nor is this allowed in the constitution.
