Schools and Corona

According to the report of Union Home and Health ministries, the daily upload of Covid cases has gone as low as ten thousands per day and the recovery rate has reached more than 98 percent. As such during the last couple of months almost all the commercial, business, official, social and other such activities have been allowed to be carried out in a normal way. But the only sector which till now is not being allowed to go ahead with its normal activities and which is most important for the socio-economical development of the country is education. Though the government has now relaxed restrictions for colleges and universities but schools are yet to be allowed for starting the regular classes. It is almost now going to be two years since the schools were closed because of the high rate of Covid cases but now when the rate of cases has gone down to its lowest level while the recovery rate is going to touch the figure of hundred sooner or later. Despite this positive development schools still are closed without any specific and justified reason. Government on one hand is claiming its victory over the Covid and that victory is vindicated by the officially released statistics by the concerned ministry. Further delay in the opening of the schools will have a very negative effect on the physical and mental development of the children. Similarly closing of the schools for such a long time has already made the small students lethargic, pessimistic and physically inactive to a large extent. In fact many families have noticed an unusual change in the behavior of their children. Many of the children have been found losing interest in the daily food system, which is most essential for their physical and mental health. By keeping them away from the schools for about two years, they have been deprived of their friend circle and from an open atmosphere, where they had been enjoying the natural way of living, which may have been for a few hours every day. Prior to the closure of schools for such a long time the children were used to enjoying the arrival of Sunday or other holidays but now the holiday has become irrelevant for them after such an unending holiday. Keeping in mind these situations the government now without any delay must open the schools otherwise this innocent and lovely section of the society will get detached from the society, family and become emotionless.
