Speed Breakers

Speed breakers are defined as an obstacle which breaks the speed of any moving body, may it be a vehicle or animal or human being or any dead or alive thing. There is a specific purpose behind breaking the speed of moving bodies and the speed breakers are placed or erected at specific places keeping in mind the necessity and requirement. Mostly the speed breakers in the present era are constructed or erected or placed on the roads to keep the speed of vehicles at a limited level. Motive behind the placing of speed breakers is to prevent the occurrence of road accidents. Mostly these are erected before the sharp curves, U-turn, under construction and damaged portions of the roads or at the beginning of the sloppy road. Besides, the breakers are mostly erected or constructed near the hospitals, schools and homes for the aged and infirm, which is the demand of the situation keeping in mind the movement of students, patients and aged persons. But at many places people residing on the side of that portion of the road construct the speed breakers without obtaining proper permission from the concerned authority. Moreover such speed breakers which are constructed by the local residents are not only unauthorized but are not according to the specifications prescribed for this purpose. Many of such speed breakers are an open invitation to the road accidents which many times can be fatal. Some influential and having links with high authorities get the speed breakers constructed near their houses located on the roadside, which for them is status symbol. Similarly some muscle men have also constructed near their houses located on the roadside on their own. One such speed breaker is an example of lawlessness and violation of road safety laws by the people on their own by constructing the speed breaker. These speed breakers constructed near the house of some musclemen in Upper-Thathar residential colony are about one foot in height and are a pair of speed breakers. Many people driving two wheelers have escaped the fatal accident while many have sustained injuries as the speed breaker is abnormal in height. What is the reason or necessity for the construction of this speed breaker is not known to any one however most of the people say that just to show their power and relations with high officials is the only reason behind the construction of this pair of speed breakers which is causing incontinence to each and everyone using that road.
