Coming together of government departments to tide over COVID

COVID-19, also known as CORONA, is troubling the World since early 2020. We saw a huge spurt of cases from March 2020 followed by a long phase of lockdown from ending March 2020. It was a National lockdown which stayed for a couple of months and was eased post reduction of cases.

Since March 2021, the CORONA cases are increasing at a rapid pace. The growth in number of cases is even more rapid than the first phase of 2021. In this phase, more trouble has erupted due to an acute shortage of Oxygen which is used in Hospitals, and it seems the nation wise States and UTs were unprepared for this and this has added to the deficit.

During this time, we have seen how various Government Departments like Indian Army, Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Indian Railways, Public Sector Undertakings like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), etc. have come together to tide over this nation wide crisis.

Indian Army has been instrumental in helping various states with helping Government Hospitals at various places by leasing Doctors working in the Indian Army, as well as setting up of Hospitals and Community beds at various places. They have also arranged Oxygen in various cities, cancelled leaves of their Medical Staff and asked retired Medical Employees to help the Indian Army in its efforts of relief.

Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has set up a large scale hospital facility in New Delhi. Worthwhile to mention here that last year also, Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) had set up the hospital and it has been reactivated due to increase in cases. Also it is opening more Hospitals in other states and UTs. Indian Air Force is arranging transport of Medical grade Oxygen, being used in Hospital from Factories till Hospitals of various States and UTs. They have also arranged the transport of Oxygen from other Countries also. Indian Navy has arranged the transport of Oxygen by Water mode from various Countires which have come forward to help Indian during this crisis time. Indian Railways has allowed transport of trucks containing Oxygen in them from various States and UTs. We had seen multiple pictures of Indian Railways ferrying Oxygen in trains for faster transport of Oxygen and thus ensuring quick last mile delivery.

Various Public Sector Undertakings like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) have also joined the efforts of various other Goverment Departments in COVID related relief. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has arranged diversion of Oxygen from its plants to various States and UTs. Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is also doing the same and have arranged Oxygen from its various plants. Some Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have also arranged Beds and Medical facilities in their compound.

We are hopeful that with the pitching-in of various Goverment Departments, the Country will be able to tide over the CORONA crisis smoothly and swiftly.
